The theme of the exhibition is deeply personal for the artist himself, yet at the same time multifaceted. A phrase that holds great significance for him, as it marked a health crisis. A phrase that is a plea for empathy, resonating with others on a deeply emotional level. Or perhaps a provocative phrase that alludes to catch me if you can? Because despite the challenges, the artist has achieved so much through his work.

Nicholas — or Nick to those close to him — has found ways through his art to transform disability into a springboard for expressing his story, doing so with the brightest colours instead of words.

Nicholas Kontaxis is a Greek-American painter known for his abstract works of art, distinguished by vivid colours, explosive energy, and emotional depth. He was born in 1996 in the United States, where he was also raised, and since a young age has faced more than 75,000 epileptic seizures due to a brain tumour.

Despite the serious health challenges he faces, painting has become both his refuge and his therapy. Through his art, he is able to express himself and at the same time feel safe. But it’s not just art that provides this safety net — something like his own trampoline — it’s also his family, who surround him with immense love and support. And thanks to this close-knit family who stand by him on this journey of life and creativity, Nicholas knows there is always someone there to catch him if he falls.
